18 Sep 2001 :: Also I'd like to excuse for such a low activity about the news section of the site (hm, should I excuse? :), for I haven't got my home computer here yet. Though, I'm gonna receive it on the 22nd... [ more.. ]

02 Mar 2002 :: Finally. February has come to end, and the spring began. By the way, February in Ukrainian is "lyutyi", which can be translated directly as "fierce". Besides, yesterday spring began only formally, for in our part of the Globe there were no real frost since the middle of January... [ more.. ]

11 Jul 2003 :: Once walking through the junction near the St. Gheorge monument (the city patron, just like his colleague from Moscow he holds a spear and there is a thrown dragon also), I saw a door with the "club rock" inscription... [ more.. ]

Try to guess where in this World the last shelter of dragons, witches, sorcerers, vampires and statanists can reside? Where, when the Moon is full Jungarian hamsters are sacrificed? Where everything is ruled by the Dark Lord Himself who drinks Light Beer eating lost souls under chile sauce? It appears that in our technocratic society, with its sky-scrapers, ergonomic keyboards, toothpicks, mobile phones with changeable panels, and lavatory pans, there is still such a place! Not even just a small place, but a whole country where yours sincerely has been living for more than half a year already. Stereotypes are very strong for they exist almost everywhere. I'll give two sources that are located on opposite sides of the map relatively to Romania.

The first movie to amuse me was "Harry Potter". I have finally managed to watch it. Unfortunatelly I didn't with a computer so I could miss something. Nevertheless, I made up my opinion. The movie is usually spoken about well, and I think it's worth such an appreciation. It also doesn't claim to be a cult like "The Lord of the Rings", which I want to watch only on a wide screen when it finally arrives here. I like the Tolkien's book a lot, that's why I'm going to watch it attentively. Anyway, HP is a nice fairy-tale, with flashy graphics and quite an intresting story. Children (at least not brain-damaged ones ;) should definitely be fond of it. Romania is mentioned frequently and with serious faces in the movie when it goes about various misterious things. Particulary I remember the scene with a little dragon hatching out from an egg. One of the heroes said there were a lot of such creatures in Romania. By the way, a bit later it was extradited (repatriated?) to the respective country.

The secound source is located a bit to the East, in yours sincerely's historical Fatherland, i.e. in Russia. Here the nice, the most tolerant (do you remember whining about the Pope's coming?) and the holiest in the World Moscow patriarchy put out the reference about cults and sects. By the way, it was put out in the Internet which was considered by the same organization as a Satan's invention not so long ago. Though the guys in frocks paid a bit of their invaluable attention to the latter by writing a whole page about Satanism and its varieties. Must admit its author was familiar with "The Satanic Bible" and that's why its main points were described there well enough. At other hand the resource was too Orthodox-centric. Particulary, it said that the main enemy of Satanism is Orthodoxy. I was courious how many times LaVey had heard about this branch of Christianity over there in San-Francisco :)

Ok, I lost the point a little bit. On the same page the priest guys discussed geography telling us where evil satanists should had been looked for. What do you think? Romania again. There is already too many dragons here!

Needs to be mentioned that locals are very and very piety. Even more than it's possible to imagine living somewhere in the former USSR. Half of the population crosses theirselves passing by a church. They do it not only walking, but also when driving a car, going with a bus, riding a horse, even riding a Jungarian hamster (what's wrong with me today?). Looks like if they don't do it, some of the guys from the Celestial chancellery will punish them or write down a note into a small black book.

Obviously, the statement about crowds of satanists in Romania is caused by someone's stereotypes and by the lack of knowledge of local reality. Anyway, if there is at least one alive satanist around here I'd talk with them with a great pleasure. Ave Satanas, and be good, boys and girls.
